Evergreen Trophies was founded in 1962 by Morrie Dawkins, who initially ran the business out of the basement of his home. Dawkins went on to serve as Bremerton's mayor from 1983-1985. Joe Hudson began working part-time at Evergreen Trophies as a high school student, and during summers while attending Olympic College. When Morrie entered the real estate business, he offered Joe a partnership in the shop. As Joe likes to say, "I was dumb enough to say yes." Hudson eventually became sole owner of Evergreen Trophies, along with his wife Lorraine, in 1977.
Almost 50 years later, Joe and Lorraine decided it was time to retire. Enter long-time Bremerton residents (and long-time Evergreen customers) Eric Spencer and Rana Tan. They were always fond of the local business, and had even told Joe and Lorraine "if you ever decide to sell the business, give us a call." Well, the message came through an email rather than a phone call, but the message was received and accepted. After months of sorting and cataloging 50 years worth of supplies to create a myriad of awards and commemorative items, the bulk of the business was moved to the new location inside the Kitsap Bank/Starbucks building on the corner of 6th Street and Warren Avenue in November 2025. Joe and Lorraine will continue to support the business until Eric and Rana are fully trained.
